Safety is a cheap and effective insurance policy
Creating and maintaining a safe learning environment is one of the primary concerns of the School. The School takes great pride in having already implemented the Safe School concept by setting up a safety and emergency preparedness framework, comprised of:
The School has installed a Multi-Channel Digital Video Surveillance System, and Audio Instructing System which enables the School administration to effectively monitor in real-time the work and discipline of students and personnel. * We have strictly controlled visitor access.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND OTHER EMERGENCY EQUIPMENTAt strategic points around the school, adequate equipment is installed: smoke detectors & alarms, fire extinguishers, lightning absorbers, standard First Aid Kit, etc.
CRISIS MANAGEMENTCrisis Management and Crisis Readiness Education is incorporated in the regular curriculum, which includes showing videotapes and electronic media with essential safety information about fires, chemical or hazardous material spills, natural disasters like earthquakes, heat waves, medical emergencies and road safety, etc.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT DRILLSTraining and periodic drills (such as fire and evacuation drills, electrical safety, etc.) by authorized experts (such as local public safety officials), along with exercises of an emergency scenario. We have a trained fire fighting team at the school comprising of all male staff members.
BASIC FIRST AID & MEDICINES
The school has a dedicated sickroom with first aid supplies and basic medicine and a doctor on call. The office staff is trained to give basic first aid in case of emergencies.
SOLAR SECURITY FENCING
The school has solar powered electric fencing for security. Our system is a modern day green alternative to the conventional methods of fencing, keeping the school premises safe and secure.
MINERAL WATER PLANT
The school has a reverse osmosis mineral water plant to supply pure and safe water for the children. Enough number of taps are arranged at different points on every floor of the school so that the children can get the water at their nearest point.
WATER COOLERSEvery child and staff member has access to cool purified water which is very much appreciated, especially during summer. There is a water cooler on each floor.
EARTHQUAKE PROOFINGExtra precautions have been taken in the construction of the School foundation. As Ongole is designated an Earthquake Red Zone, the school has taken the expensive initiative to safeguard our children and staff in case of an earthquake. Each column above ground is supported by 4 piles at a depth of 17’ and of 18” diameter. Each pile cap (8’ X 8' X 2.6”) consumed 35 bags of cement. The pile caps are connected with a big plinth beam that makes up the foundation. Special care has also been taken with steel reinforcement and mating of the pile caps and plinth beam.
SANITATION AND HYGIENEThe School believes that healthy children in a hygienic environment produce high learning output. Thus, the School focuses on providing a healthy learning environment in the School by:
- Provision of facilities needed for sanitation, such as clean lavatories, toilets, hand-washing and water supply
- Provision of a certified water filter unit for supplying clean and safe drinking water
- Provision of Personal and Environmental Hygiene Education in the curriculum to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge of effective hygiene
- Periodical medical check-ups and lessons on oral hygiene and dental care
- Provision of waste disposal - soak pits and garbage pits.
